West Palm Beach No-Zone Accident Attorneys
With Florida being a significant hub of imports and exports, our roads are highly trafficked every day with large commercial trucks. All commercial truck drivers must be aware of the areas surrounding their vehicle that hide passing vehicles. These are called no-zones and are also referred to as “blind spots,” because the trucker can’t observe them while behind the wheel. Knowing this information, Florida truck drivers are expected to be extremely cautious on the roads with other drivers. Unfortunately, a fatal truck accident can easily occur if the truck driver is careless with this knowledge or makes a sudden lane change without properly ensuring the area is clear of other vehicles. Why do I need an attorney?
Proving negligence on the truck driver’s part in a no-zone accident can be difficult. Since the driver cannot physically see a car in this blind range, an attorney will be able to help you out as the victim in proving carelessness on their part.
We believe at Schuler, Weisser, Zoeller, Overbeck & Baxter P.A. that the burdens of an accident—medical bills, property damage, time lost from work—should least of all fall to you, the victim. One of the few ways to get the compensation you truly deserve is to negotiate or go to court, but not only is this immensely difficult for someone to do alone, it is entirely unfair a burden to fall to you. Seek the help of an attorney to ease these undue burdens. There is one firm in Florida that everyone recognizes, and that’s Schuler, Weisser, Zoeller, Overbeck & Baxter P.A..

The No-Zones of a Commercial Vehicle
A truck’s blind spots are more difficult for many people to understand because they’ve never driven one. Truck drivers need extensive training to learn how to navigate with their massive blind spots, and failure to check all of them before every driving maneuver can prove dangerous. Here are the areas on a truck that are known as no zones:
- Up to 20 feet (about two car lengths) in front of a truck
- Up to 30 feet (about three car lengths) behind a truck
- The area up to two lengths away from the right side of the truck by the length of the truck
- About the width of one lane and 10 feet (about one car’s length) from below the driver’s window on the left side
While it’s important to remember not to cruise in these areas while driving, it is the truck driver’s responsibility to diligently check these areas for other vehicles.
No-Zone FAQs
The questions you have after a large trucking accident are likely weighing heavily on you. There are countless other relevant questions we can answer for you, but here are a few of the most common questions post-accident:
How many “No-Zone” spots does a truck have?
There are four blind spots on a commercial truck: the front, right, left, and rear no-zone. Familiarize yourself with these blind spots so when sharing the road, you can stay aware and potentially avoid a preventable accident.
What if I was partially at fault?
Determining fault in a no-zone accident can be challenging, but even if you were partially at fault, that does not automatically disqualify you from compensation. The Pure Comparative Negligence Law in Florida suggests that your percentage of the blame, determined through another process, will determine the percentage of damages you can claim. If the worth of the accident is measured to be $10,000, but you were found to be 30% responsible, then you’d be eligible to receive $7,000.
